It will include a non-removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery tentatively capable of storing 1000 mAh. The tentative design weighs 210 g (7.4 oz), has dimensions of 162 × 52 × 98 mm (6.4 × 2.0 × 3.9 in), and has a rubber or etched plastic backing to enhance grip.

Cost and Availability Of PS4 in NIGERIA

The PS4 is going to cost $400 (which is about N60,000), and will be available as soon as possible. That puts it at a hundred dollars cheaper than the Xbox One, although it's worth remembering that the Xbox One comes bundled with a Kinect 2.

It's an aggressive price, though, one that Sony needed to hit to make itself an attractive Xbox One alternative. If nothing else, the choice is clear: Do you want a living room portal that happens to play (some extremely good) games? Or a less expensive gaming machine (with some extremely good online content) that doesn't have much of an exclusive identity?

For the gaming community, the edge pretty clearly goes to the PS4 right now. Used games aren't tainted by DRM restrictions, the console itself is cheaper, the graphics are sublime. The question is: What about everyone else? We'll have to wait until the holiday season for any sort of definitive answer.

Android, of course, allows Google Now to be accessed with a swipe-up or long-press of a button on some phones, but it's worth pointing out that it might actually be available on fewer devices than on iOS thanks to minimum OS requirements.

Apple's hardware, Google's cloud services

Google has long said that it wants to make its services available on as many platforms as possible, but recent moves indicate that, when it comes to mobile, those platforms mainly include iOS and Android. It's notable that Google isn't holding back some of its best service features as Android exclusives, but Gultekin points out that Google still believes that Android offers a superior feature set for its products: "As with many Google products, Android (and Nexus devices) always give you the best Google experience, but we aim to make our services available to as many people as possible. Android offers more integration opportunities than iOS." Even so, the number and quality of Google's apps on iOS mean that heavy Google services users don't have as much incentive as they once did to stick with an Android device.

APPLE FIXES BUG FOR SCREEN LOCK FLAWS

Apple says its latest update to the iOS 6 operating system fixes a security flaw that could allow access to an iPhone by circumventing the phone's lock screen. Version 6.1.3 of iOS for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch was released Tuesday, CNET reported. Using the previous vulnerability, a person could execute a series of operations that including making a emergency call that would result in the phone's lock screen being bypassed, allowing them to make calls and listen to voice mails. The update, which users can download to their phones for installation, "contains improvements and bug fixes," including the fix for "a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the iPhone app," Apple said on its website. In addition to the security fixes, the iOS 6.1.3 update also adds improvements to Apple Maps in Japan. The lock screen flaw was discovered last month, but a subsequent 6.1.2 update to fix an email problem left the flaw in place until today's update.

FIREFOX SET TO JOIN SMARTPHONE GIANTS IN MOBILE TECHNOLOGY RACE

Mozilla, makers of the popular Firefox Internet browser, is preparing to challenge Google and Apple’s grip on smartphone software.

A new Firefox operating system for mobile devices is set for a July release after winning the backing of 13 wireless service providers around the globe, including Spain’s Telefonica, China Unicom and America Movil. Mozilla is betting there’s room for a software developer-friendly mobile platform alongside Apple’s and Google’s Android, which together power the majority of mobile devices on the planet. The new software is based on open Web standards and is capable of operating on devices with much lower hardware requirements than today’s existing crop of smarpthones, according to Mozilla. Because the Firefox OS is open-source and Web-based, third-party developers will be free to sell mobile applications without needing to share revenue with Apple or Google. “There’s a strategic imperative for the industry to have another OS that really is open and supports choice and competition,” said Mozilla’s Senior Vice President of Products, Jay Sullivan. Mozilla will showcase some of the first hardware devices based on that software at the Mobile World Congress, taking place in Barcelona this week. Among the brands that have signed on to make devices based on Firefox OS are South Korea’s LG, China’s ZTE and Huawei. Unlike Google and Apple’s operating systems, which are built from proprietary technology, Firefox OS uses the HTML5 standard that Web services are built with. That means anyone familiar with Web programming can create Firefox OS apps. Whether a smartphone built on Web standards can deliver the kind of performance that consumers expect remains to be seen. GOOGLE UNVEILS HER FIRST TOUCHSCREEN LAPTOP

Google has unveiled its first touchscreen-enabled laptop.

The Chromebook Pixel runs Google's Chrome operating system and has been "largely built" by the web giant. The laptop has Intel's Ivy Bridge processors, fast 4G LTE connectivity and a high-resolution screen aimed at challenging Apple's Retina Display. Analysts say the move represents a fresh bid to build market share for Chromebooks against machines running Microsoft and Apple operating systems. Unlike PCs that use installed software such as Microsoft Word, Chrome OS computers run their applications through the firm's web browser and store their files in the cloud. The internet giant told the BBC the device was "largely built by Google, with components that are manufactured globally". The laptop's 12.85in (32.64cm) display's resolution is similar to the so-called Retina Display of Apple's MacBook range, aimed to have pixel density high enough for the human eye not to notice pixelation when looking at the screen at a typical viewing distance. "This Chromebook has the highest pixel density (239 pixels per inch) of any laptop screen on the market today," said the company. Focusing on the specifics of hardware - which seem abstract at best to your average consumer - is what companies who can't "create an amazing experience" resort to, Cook said. He said he thinks Apple's devices have the "best display" - no surprise there. All about the apps Superior display technology isn't all Apple has going for it; according to Cook, the Cupertino company paid $8 billion (UK £5.1B, AU $7.8B) to app developers over the years. Apple's app store has been incredibly successful. CNET reported in January that app store downloads passed 40 billion, 20 billion of which were in 2012, and as of October there were 700,000 apps available for download. "We built an ecosystem that is the best customer experience on the planet," Cook said during Tuesday's meeting. According to CNET's January report, app developers had made $7 billion (UK £4.47B AU $6.79B) from the app store. The meteoric rise of that number could be an indication of Apple's "enormous momentum," which Cook attributed to the aforementioned ecosystem.
