NicePlayer BETA
Android Police coverage: [Hands-On] NicePlayer Is A New Android Music Player Defined By Its Polished Card-Style UI
There's only so much that a music player can do to stand out from the pack. You can try to add a ton of features, like Music Player (Remix), or you can go for the pretty, like NicePlayer. This unconventional music app incorporates Google's card UI system in a big way, mixing the standard player functions with a file browser for music management. It's certainly unique, though whether it's better than a more typical UI or not is up to you.

Buy Me a Pie! Grocery List
Android Police coverage: [New App] Popular 'Buy Me A Pie!' Grocery List App Now Available For Android, Can Remember More Than Dessert
To-do list apps aren't exactly hard to come by, but Buy Me A Pie has a huge following on iOS thanks to its swanky interface and an interesting learning dictionary mechanic. Put in some non-standard words (like, say, Jardine Salsa) and Buy Me A Pie will learn it and save it for future lists. The paid version adds cross-platform cloud syncing, multiple lists, and easy sharing for just a buck at the time of writing.
--
Buy Me a Pie. is the handiest and easiest to use shopping list app with synchronization. Forget paper shopping lists and overcomplicated applications. With Buy Me a Pie., you will love shopping. HabitRPG
Android Police review: HabitRPG Review: Successfully Turning Real Life Tasks Into A Game, Bugs And Janky Controls Included
If you do something long enough, it becomes a habit - for better or worse. This sort of thinking is what drives HabitRPG, an app that tries to make positive activities into a role-playing game. It's an interesting idea, but in order for it to work you'll have to be y our own dungeon master, so to speak. Reviewer Bertel King, Jr. found it to be more frustrating than useful, but pen-and-paper RPG types might find a lot to like.
--
Habit RPG is a habit-building program which treats your life like a Role Playing Game. Level up as you succeed, lose HP as you fail, earn money to buy weapons and armor, compete with your friends. https://habitrpg.com (the website) has been around for about one year, and has additional features such as guilds, parties, pets, random drops, tags, difficulty settings, etc. We're going to be pulling in features bit-by-bit into the mobile app - but we wanted to get this initial release out there so people can start using it, and hopefully contributing.
FreshBooks Cloud Accounting
Android Police covera ge: [New App] FreshBooks Releases Official Android App, Brings Cloud-Based Accounting To Contractors And Small Businesses
Freshbooks has been a favorite of small businesses for years. It's a simple, cloud-connected platform for tracking billable time, expenses, and invoices, best suited to small teams or contractors. Clipless
Android Police coverage: [New App] Clipless Makes You Privy To All The Nearby Deals That You're Undoubtedly Missing
There are a plethora of deal hunter apps available for Android from all kinds of sources, but you can never save enough money, so here's another one. This one focuses on retail stores in your local area, so there's no need to hunt down online savings and wait for the shipping. Deals are displayed in maps and show up in your notifications, and you can set both the frequency and the range of the alerts.
--
Discover new deals and coupons near you with Clipless. There are tons of deals out there, but *finding* them is a challenge. With Clipless, you'll never miss a deal again. Clipless is a "contextual" deal locator that follows you around and alerts you when discounts are offered at places that you're actually at, using low-power location services to keep your battery happy. Use it to find deals near you at a single point in time, or put it into the background and let it roam with you
Way2ride
Android Police coverage: [New App] VeriFone Launches Way2Ride, A Cab Hailing Service To Compete In New York's Increasingly Crowded Market
There are a ton of digital taxi services these days (and cabbies all hate them, and do you have to pay with a credit card sir, I really prefer cash), but Way2Ride might just be the most exciting. In addition to the standard hailing function, it's got maps, annotated rece ipts, and other tracking tools. Best of all, it includes a function that calls your cab if you leave something in the car... which admittedly isn't much help if the thing that you leave is your phone. Way2Ride is only available in NYC at the moment.
--
Just get in. Tap. And get out. Its that easy. With the Way2ride taxi app now available in New York City, theres no more fumbling for your wallet to pay at the end of the ride. Just scan a credit card, set your tip preference, and youre ready to ride. Whether you hail with your hand, or hail with an app, all it takes is a single tap at the beginning of your ride is. All your receipts are saved in the Way2ride app and online, with a map of your route, tags, and other tools for submitting expenses.
avast! Mobile Backup
Android Police coverage: [New App] Avast Releases Mobile Backup App, Throws In Big Mobile Security Update As A Bonus
Avast is best known for their anti-virus software, but backup fits nicely in the security wheelhouse, so they've offered an app for that as well. The free Mobile Backup App will preserve your contacts, SMS log, call log, and photos, but if you want music, video, and apps backed up, you'll have to pay. Data is sent to Avast's servers on your account, so restoring from a backup should be easy (and crucially, it won't depend on your local hardware).
--
Backup your Android phone and tablet. Otherwise, all your accumulated contacts, music, videos, family photos, and other personal (irreplaceable) data are dangerously kept on a device with only temporary life. Back them up to secure, cloud-based servers, so you can relax about theft and/or accidental damage (e.g. a spilled cup of coffee).
The app backs up:
- Contacts
- SMS
- Call logs
- Photos
- Music (pr emium)
- Videos (premium)
- Apps (premium)
Portal (Floating Apps) BETA
The Halo paradigm continues. I'm not a fan of these sorts of apps, but Portal may have the best presentation of the floating notification that I've seen thus far. Tap the floating icon in any app and you're presented with a set of mini-widgets for SMS, Facebook, Twitter, and a web browser. Portal can't do anything to change the fundamental awkwardness of the idea itself, but as a conceptual app, it at least lets everyone try it out.
--
Portal is a new cutting edge way to easily send updates to Facebook and Twitter, as well as send text messages, and browse the Internet with many more apps to come. Portal floats over your existing apps making it much quicker to multi-task and turns you into a phone ninja. Portal not only allows you quicker access to popular apps it also can show notifications for all your apps once the accessibility service is started.
Canvas for Pebble
This isn't the first time we've seen a make-your-own-Pebble-watchface service, but it's the first one that's completely handled by Android. But wait, there's more! In addition to a standard time display, you can add calendar updates, weather call alerts, email unread counts, or even your phone's current battery level to your Pebble watch display. The app also integrates with Tasker, which should appeal to anyone who's into the ultra-customization scene. Dynamic sharing with other users is icing on the cake.
--
Design a Pebble watch-face on your phone, and publish it instantly to your watch. Your watch-faces can use any time format that you wish, including the popular 'text watch' format. You can also include dynamic content which will update continually from your phone:
- Your next calendar appointments (on supported devices ICS+)
- Missed call, Un read SMS counters
- Unread Gmail counters for any labels
- Phone battery percentage
- Phone sensor status (temperature, humidity, pressure on supported devices e.g. Galaxy S4)
- Weather
- Any content from Tasker
- And anything else via plugins
Mashable
Android Police coverage: [New App] Official Mashable App Available Now On Newer Samsung Devices, Wider Launch Set For Next Week
Mashable is sort of like Baby's First Subreddit, distilling the popular detritus of the web into bite-sized and barely editorialized stories. The mobile app is a Samsung exclusive at launch, but should be heading to the wider Android world sometime this week. The app includes Mashable's trademark social algorithm, plus a unique user interface that loads up stories once you scroll to the bottom for continuous reading.
--
Download the official Mashable app, which alerts you whenever a story is starting to go viral, so that you'll know what everyone's talking about, before they're talking about it. This beautiful design adapts responsively to your device's size, from a phone to a mini to a full-size tablet, so you can be assu red the app will look great on whatever you're carrying. And this app is smart: When you finish reading an article, the homepage is dynamically stitched in below the article.
SoundSeeder Music Player
Android Police coverage: [New App] SoundSeeder Streams Music From One Android Device To Others Over WiFi Like A Poor Man's Sonos
SoundSeeder does one thing, and one thing only: stream local music to other Android devices. Why? Well, if you've got a lot of Android phones and tablets lying around on the same WiFi network, it's a great way to set up a quick and dirty Sonos-style home streaming system. The core app installs on your main device, and the speaker app goes on any satellite devices, which can be played simultaneously. SoundSeeder is free to try, but requires a $4 IAP to unlock the full version.
--
Sound Seeder is a Music Player, that streams your music to other Android devices via Wi-Fi. Listen to your music on your phone and connect additional Android devices as wireless speakers. All connected speakers play your song simultaneously and in sync a s one large sound system. Run SoundSeeder Music Player on your device and install the SoundSeeder Speaker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kattwinkel.android.soundseeder.speaker) additionally on any device (beginning with Android 2.2) you want to connect.
SoundSeeder Speaker
Geekbench 3
Android Police coverage: [New App] Geekbench 3 Benchmark Released, Adds Multi-Core Testing (And Not Much Else) For 99
Geekbench 3 is here! It's one number higher than Geekbench 2! Hooray! Hardware junkies may salivate over new benchmark apps, but for the rest of us, they're only really useful when browsing device reviews. Which is why separating Geekbench 3 into another app seems kind of petty: the new version adds a slightly tweaked UI and better multi-core support, and that's it. At least it's only a dollar for the upgrade.
--
Find out how fast your phone or tablet is with Geekbench 3. Geekbench 3 includes several new tests designed to simulate real-world scenarios. These new tests are designed to quickly and accurately measure mobile processor performance. Every test included with Geekbench 3 is multi-core aware. This allows Geekbench 3 to measure the full potential of your device's processor. Geekbench 3 also reports performance as separate single-core and multi-core scores, making it easier to figure out how your device will handle your apps.
Chegg eTextbooks & Study Tools
Android Police coverage: [New App] Chegg Hits Android To Help You Hit The Books
Google Play recently introduced textbooks to its digital marketplace, but Chegg has been going for far longer, with a far more attractive rental option (because textbook publishers are right up there with wireless carriers and insurance companies in the axis of corporate evil). Unfortunately, you can't actually buy or rent full books from Android at the moment.
--
Chegg, the Student Hub, has your books and solutions on the go. Free instant access to your Chegg textbooks*, read your eTextbooks, find guided solutions, and Get 2 FREE guided solutions each week.
Features:
Free 7-day instant access to your Chegg textbooks* rented on the web
Tap into our library of over 2.5 million guided solutions
Read eTextbooks on any device desktop, tablet, or smartphone
Nextdoor
Android Police coverage: [New App] Nextdoor Now Available For Android, Wants To Help You Get To Know The Neighbors
I have a confession to make: I don't know the names of three out of my four neighbors. Nextdoor tries to alleviate this first-world antisocial behavior by creating a sort of localized social network, which is also a lot like a bulletin board. There's nothing you can do in Nextdoor that you couldn't do on a forum or Craigslist, but it's presented in a much better way.
--
Nextdoor is the free, private social network for you, your neighbors and your community. It's the easiest way to connect and talk with your neighbors about the things that matter in your neighborhood. When neighbors start talking, good things happen.
Quickly get the word out about a break-in
Organize a neighborhood crime watch
Recommend a trustworthy babysitter
Find out who does the best paint jo b in town
Ask for help finding a lost dog
Find a new home for an outgrown bike
Finally remember your neighbors names
Triggr
This is one of those little tools that you never knew you needed until it existed. Triggr pairs with a companion program on your desktop to let you know when you've got an incoming call. Big deal - Google Hangouts does the same thing, assuming you've connected your number. But it also (wait for it) silences your computer after you connect. Truly, this is a golden age... but only if you're a Windows user.
--
Triggr a djusts your computer's volume when you make or receive a phone call. See phone call updates as desktop notifications on your PC in real-time. Pair your devices (over any Internet connection), and let them talk. The Triggr mobile app will only work with the Triggr desktop PC app. Download the desktop app FREE at http://triggrapp.com.
NOOK Video Watch Movies & TV
Android Police coverage: [New App] Barnes & Noble Launches Nook Video On Google Play, Supports Android Phones, Tablets, And Nook Devices
You know what the mobile world really needs? Another video delivery service. All jokes aside, Barnes & Noble has brought their Nook video service to wider Android devices, accomplishing both convenience for Nook owners and the very slight possibility of some extra revenue, both of which are good things. It will also shame Amazon for never bringing Amazon Video to Google Play EVER, which I'm also okay with. you can also connect Ultraviolet digital movies with the B&N service.
--
Watch movies & TV shows instantly with NOOK Video for Android no subscription required. You can buy or rent, and then stream or download content across all your Android devices. If you have an UltraViolet Collection, its accessible*, too. NOOK Video offers everything from the newest Hollywood blockbusters to independent films and family favorites. Prefer something shorter? Watch single episodes or full seasons of popular TV shows. New releases are available the same day theyre released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc and sometimes even earlier.
Music2SD - Xposed
One of the biggest problems with Google Music is that downloaded songs and albums have nowhere to go but your internal storage, which is all too limited on most devices. This app uses the root-o nly Xposed Framework to move Google Music downloads to an external SD card. Be warned, Xposed tends to do some very unexpected things without warning - you might want to have a Nandroid backup handy before applying this tweak.
--
Do you not have enough room on your Internal Storage or Device Storage for your music, but have plenty of space on your SD Card? No more with Music2SD. You can now force Google Play Music to store your music where you want it.
- Install Xposed Framework.- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
- Install Music2SD
- Open Music2SD and Select a Download Storage Location.
- Open Xposed Framework and Enable the Music2SD Module.
- Restart your phone/tablet.
- Start downloading.
Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic
Chromecast, UPnP, and DLNA are contemporary but competing standards. This little app lets you use Google Play Music with the latter two streaming protocols, which are so frustratingly left out of both Play Music and stock Android. Once you set it up, it should be able to remember multiple streaming devices. The free download includes a time limit of 20 minutes for each stream, with a cheap IAP removing this limitation.
--
Did you ever want to play your Google Play Music to your UPnP / DLNA devices connected to your speakers ? With Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic, enjoy streaming your cloud Google Music uploaded by yourself and from the All Access subscription (including Radio) to: XBMC, DLNA TVs, PCs, WDTV Live, Xbox 360, Sonos, Android (with BubbleUPnP), various hifi gear from Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, and many many more. You may even have an UPnP / DLNA device to play to on your network without knowing it.
AppWererabbit (Toolbox)
The basic app menu in Android's Settings leaves a lot to be desired. The strangely-named AppWererabbit does all that stock does and much more. Want to backup your entire app folder? No problem. How about an Apps2SD implementation? You got it. The $3 pro version adds a ton of management options for your backed-up apps, and it all works with Dropbox. This thing even has plugin support - just think of it as the DashClock of APK managers. With a really weird name.
--
App Wererabbit is a set of tools developed to help you manage app and apk files on your smartphone and tablet.
- App Backup & Restore - Backup app (.apk file), allow fast app re-install without the needs of Play Store, also support auto-backup and multi versions
- App list backup - Backup the list of installed apps for easy install on your new device, support multiple lists
- App2SD (Move apps to SD) - Identify and facilitate the moving of apps that support this function to SD card
- App Cache Cleaner - An 1-Tap Cleaner that also perform on schedule
- App Sharer - Share interesting apps you discovered with your friends
- Apk Installer - Search the device's storage for .apk files for easy installation
- Apk Renamer - Search the device's storage for .apk files for individual or bulk rename to a custom name format
Sliding Explorer
Need a file manager that fits in with Android and fulfills your need for Holo everything? Then Sliding Explorer is your man. It's got all the basics covered including archived file support and root access. Oh, and it's free. What else do you want... aside from cloud storage integration, viewing options, and all the other stuff that you'd probably need to pay for in another app?
--

- Google Nav Drawer Navigation

Fraction Calculator PRO/EDU
Fractions are tricky things to integrate into a standard calculator, so the developers at MathLab made a new one specifically designed for those numerating, denominating jerks. The Fraction Calculator also works with expressions, equations, and some more esoteric mathematical functions. The $3 Pro version removes advertising and adds multiple workspaces and expression saving.
--
Fraction calculator with step-by-step operations. Shows results as you type. Graphical display of expressions with history. Use space to enter mixed fractions.
- Step-by-step operations (option to turn off)
- Arithmetic operations (+,-,*,/,), hold / to enter
- Powers of fractions
- Fractions simplification
- Fractions with complex numbers
- Decimal to fraction conversion and back
- Symbolical fractions and operations < li>Integer roots simplification
- Pinch to zoom
Swipe Home Button (Trial)
Here's a nifty little tool for those of you whose distaste for physical buttons borders on the pathological (or whose Home button is broken). Swipe Home Button adds a swipe-up gesture to the bottom of the screen that simulates Android's Home button. Other gestures can be bound to other commands, including the Recents menu, a single-app bind, or simple media controls. The full version is just a dollar.
--
Do you find physical Home Button is hard to press? Do you worry your home button will be broken soon? Do you feel your notification bar is too far to reach? Swipe Home Button is a revolutionary tool that changes the way you control your a ndroid. It provide five most useful actions on Android with bezel swipe gestures. No more Home Button. No more reaching to the status bar. And, now it is possible to use your big phone with only one hand.
Usemon (Usage monitor)
Nope, this app isn't some kind of Digimon fan service (which I have to admit is what I thought of when I read the title). Instead it's an advanced desktop-style usage monitor. Usemon monitors CPU load, memory load, network throughput, and disk usage in an incredibly detailed way, saving data to logs and displaying it in widgets or notifications if that's you thing. The interface isn't much to write home about, but that probably won't deter power users or developers.
--
I have really missed graphs of system status from android. I wanted something like you have in task manager on windows, or widgets on my KDE desktop. When I found nothing like that, I decided to write one, here it is. Usemon is a simple application for monitoring usage of system resources. It displays graphs of CPU, RAM, and network usage. (For dual and quad core devices per core stats are supported .) No root needed. It is extremely lightweight, because it gets these data directly from the kernel. It can show permanent statusbar notifications of these too (when enabled).
eDrawings
File format support is a real Achilles heel for designers. eDrawings is a proprietary collaboration tool that ties in with SolidWorks, and the mobile version allows users to view SolidWorks projects on the go. You can't edit them, but the app does support a few other file types, and integrates with Dropbox, Google Drive, Skydrive, and others. According to the descript ion, this is the only app that works with eDrawings project files.
--
eDrawings is the only CAD viewer on Android phones and tablets that allows you to view native eDrawings files as well as native SolidWorks parts, assemblies and drawings files. eDrawings is the email-enabled communication tool that dramatically eases sharing of product design information. You can load and send files via email to collaborate more effectively with everyone involved in product development, including people who are not regular CAD software users to interpret and understand 2D and 3D designs.
Clinch -Automatic Video Editor
Video editing and mobile don't exactly go hand in hand, but the makers of Clinch would like them to. This super-simple editor lets you stich videos and photos together in an easy interface, then upload them to your favorite social network. Oh, and there's no stupid artificial time limit. Which is stupid. Why would anyone do that?
--
Turn best moments into amazing movies. An automatic video editor that creates stunning short movies from all your best videos and photos. One of Clinch's coolest feature is that it helps you create a col laborative movie by combining and editing your content with videos and photos from friends around you. To make your movie even more stunning Clinch offers you to add the best related pics and clips from Instagram, Twitter, panoramic views from Google, nearby tweets and more cool stuff, all based on your location.
Givelify
If you've read your Bible lately, you know that God expects a 10% tithe of your wages, which seems pretty reasonable considering how much the government asks for these days. But the Big Guy doesn't really care how you pay, so Givelify is making it easy to tithe via credit cards or checking accounts to the worship institution of your choice.
--
Use the Givelify app to conveniently give tithes, offerings and donations from your smartphone at anytime from anywhere. Give during worship service, while vacationing, at work, home or school. Accurately track your donations. Give to any church in the US. Donations can be completed in as few as three taps on your phone. Watch out for future release which will allow donations to non-profits as well.
